Rep. Kirk Pearson’s bill, HB 2427, to strengthen laws on repeat domestic abusers will receive a public hearing Tuesday, Jan. 12. The bill, HB 2424, regarding viewing electronic depictions of child pornography will also receive a hearing that day.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 12
¨ HB 2424: Protecting Children from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse – Public Hearing on HB 2424 – Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness, HHR E @ 10 a.m.
¨ HB 2427: Ensuring Punishment for Domestic Violence Offenders– Public Hearing on HB 2427 – Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness, HHR E @ 10 a.m.
Both bills will be heard by the House Public Safety & Emergency Preparedness Committee at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12. The hearing will take place in the John L. O’Brien Building, Hearing Room E. The John L. O’Brien Building is adjacent to the Legislative Building in Olympia.
Companion bills have also been introduced in the Senate.

Rep. Pearson is also sponsoring legislation to address the issue of extradition of folks back to states where they have failed to comply with mental health treatment as a condition of release. The bill number is HB 2533.
